Attorney Henry C. Paine, Jr.

Hank is the founder of the Law Office of Henry C. Paine, Jr. located in Denton Texas. He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been practicing law for over 30 years.

A native of La Grange, Texas, Hank is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he was President of the Class of ’73 and also served as Head Yell Leader. Hank has extensive experience in criminal defense, including experience in the most serious criminal trials as well. He has prosecuted and defended 12 Capital Murder or Attempted Capital Murder cases during his career

Former Chief Felony Prosecutor

Prior to attending law school at St. Mary’s University School of Law, he worked for Fayette County, Texas as an assistant to the Commissioners Court. His primary duties were assistance in county government administration and serving as a lobbyist for Fayette County in both Austin and Washington, D.C.

Hank began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Brazos County, Texas and was a Chief Felony prosecutor. After leaving the District Attorney’s office Hank was engaged in the private practice of criminal defense until being asked to join the staff of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas as an Assistant United States Attorney.

Hank has been asked to serve as a Special Prosecutor in several Texas counties. He has prosecuted complex bank and insurance fraud cases for the State as a Special Prosecutor.

Hank is one of 10 lawyers in the state to be both Criminal and Juvenile Board Certified.

Hank has defended physicians in both State and Federal Court who have been accused of Medicare Fraud and fraudulent prescription of narcotics as well as medical professionals accused of assault.

Hank has represented individuals charged with all types of drug possession, manufacturing and delivery. He has successfully prevented Governmental overreaching and violation of individuals 4th Amendment protections on many occasions.

Law enforcement agencies from across the State have turned to Hank for instruction in Criminal Law, Evidence and Procedure. He is a regular lecturer to the Law Enforcement Management Institute sponsored by Texas A&M University, Sam Houston State University and Texas Woman’s University. He has also assisted in training local police at seminars. Hank is an adjunct professor in Criminal Law and Procedure at Texas Woman’s University.

Being active in the profession away from the Courtroom is important at the Law office of Henry C. Paine Jr.. Hank has served as a State Director for the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association in 1984-86. He is also a Past President of the Brazos County, Texas Criminal Lawyer’s Association and the Denton County, Texas Criminal Lawyer’s Association.
